Kit de Waal will read at the Centre for British Studies on 1 November 2022 5pm.
Please join us on 1 November 2022 at 5pm and come to the Centre for British Studies at Mohrenstr. 60, 10117, room 105, to hear Kit de Waal read from her recently published memoir “Without Warning & Only Someties. Scenes from an Unpredictable Childhood” and from her groundbreaking anthology of working-class writers, “Common People”. The reading will be followed by a Q & A session with the audience.
You will learn about Kit de Waal’s unusual family with Irish and Caribbean background, her upbringing in Birmingham’s working-class
Mosley area, and her work as an activist for under-represented writers.
The reading was organised in cooperation with Bard College, Berlin and the Consortium for Forced Migration, Displacement and Education,
funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. All are welcome, there is no entrance fee and of course you can also attend virtually.
