We are delighted to announce our first Literary Field Kaleidoscope event in Berlin: a reading with the British poet Frances Leviston.
The reading takes place at the Centre for British Studies in Berlin Mitte. All are welcome to the reading and discussion. Admission: free.
Date: 14 June 2016
Time: 17.00 hours (s.t.)
Place: Centre for British Studies, Mohrenstr. 60, 10117 Berlin (U-Bahn Stadtmitte or Mohrenstraße)
We met Frances Leviston one of the past Literature Seminars of the British Council Berlin and wanted to invite her back ever since.
Her style and composition is very special, the topics of her poems often unusual – and on top of it all, she is a brilliant reader. Don’t miss this chance to discover an exciting poetic voice from the UK who has not been discovered in Germany, yet.
Frances Leviston’s first collection, Public Dream (Picador, 2007), was one of the most acclaimed debuts of recent years. It was shortlisted for a number of literary prizes, such as the T S Eliot Prize. Her second collection, Disinformation (Picador, 2015), was shortlisted for the International Dylan Thomas Prize.
Frances Leviston was praised for combining “technical mastery with a lucidity that verges on the hypnotic” (The Independent). In 2006, she received an Eric Gregory Award from the Society of Authors. Her poems have appeared in Poetry, London Review of Books, the Guardian, The Times, the TLS, Edinburgh Review, and Granta/ British Council New Writing.
The event was organized jointly by The Literary Field Kaleidoscope and the Centre for British Studies.
